Tractor Mounted Hedge and Verge Cutters

WHAT WILL BE COVERED?

The qualification is aimed at those who use tractor mounted hedge and verge cutters as part of their work such as estate workers, highways agencies, horticulturalists, grounds maintenance operatives, etc.
The course aims to ensure that you can prepare a tractor and relevant attachments, and use them in a safe and efficient manner; to this end you’ll be covering pre-use checks and maintenance, identification of controls and instruments and operating the machine to cut hedges or verges to the capacity of the machine.

The course also covers hazard awareness, risk assessments and health and safety legislation relevant to using tractor mounted hedge and verge cutters. You will be led through the principles of hedgerow maintenance, how weather and ground conditions can affect site operations and ensuring that you can work within the tractor capabilities and it’s extents of use.

ARE THERE ANY PRE-REQUISITES?

You must be at least 16 years of age to undertake the training and assessment; there are no other pre-requisites.

If you already hold a City & Guilds L2 Award in Agricultural Tractor Driving and Related Operations then you will be exempt from being re-examined specific tractor-related elements. If you are booking this course, please let us know whether you already have your tractor driving certificate.
