What Will Be Covered?
This course is aimed at those working in the forestry industry who need to prepare, drive and manoeuvre a flail/mulcher.
The course looks at identifying the hazards and risks associated with the working area, the proposed work and the machine as well as current health and safety legislation. You will be carrying out pre- and post-start checks to ensure correct operation of the machine and safety of the operator and then manoeuvring and operating the machine on-site. Cleaning, servicing and storing the flail/mulcher is also covered.
Are There Any Pre-Requisites?
- You must be at least 16 years of age to undertake the training and assessment.
- You must hold the Level 2 Award in Forest Machine Operations (Base Machinery) before undertaking this course / assessment.
What Can I Progress On To?
As you will have achieved the Level 2 Award in Forest Machine Operations (Base Machinery), with your required endorsements, you may progress to undertake training and assessment with other specific forest machinery such as the forwarder, skidder, cable crane, and scarifier. How Long Is The Course?

Where Is The Course Held?
Many of our courses are based at our workshops at Arborfield, near Reading; but this course can be delivered across the UK, at your own site, if needed. However, we can arrange for training / assessment across the South of England. Please contact us for more details.
