WHAT WILL BE COVERED?
This is such a great course as you benefit from covering elements of the full ‘dealing with windblown trees’ course and the ‘assisted felling’ – both of which you need to have passed your CS32 or Level 3 Award in Felling Trees Over 380mm to do.
The Level 3 Award in Emergency Treework Operations takes you through the set up of rope-based and winch-based assisted felling, and severing the root-plates of uprooted trees. The installation and set up of a hand-winch to stabilise the root-plate will be covered, as will using a hand-winch as an aid to assisted felling; rope-based assisted felling will see you using various methods to install a rope into the tree, and the knots required to achieve this. As well as this, you will be setting up a backed-up, pulley based system from first principles – literally using a handful of pulleys, karabiners and a length of rope to create a system capable of providing a 4:1 mechanical advantage.
