What Will Be Covered?

The Health and Safety and Risk Management in Winching course aims to give you the practical knowledge that you need in order to understand health and safety requirements, best practice and risk assessment in relation to the vehicle mounted or hand operated winch, making sure that you are aware of the risks when using this equipment, so safe working practices can be implemented.

If you are required to operate, or are going to operate a hand or mechanical winch on or off the road, then this course can help provide you with the safety knowledge required.

What Are The Course Objectives?

At the end of the course, the attendee will be able to:

  • Identify health and safety requirements and be able to carry out a risk assessment before using a vehicle mounted or hand operated winch and associated equipment.
  • Recognise and understand safe working practices for winching.
  • Prepare for and carry out the recovery of a vehicle in an off road situation or moving of an object from point A to point B safely including correct use of associated equipment and snatch blocks.

Are There Any Pre-Requisites?

There are no pre-requisites to this course.

How Long Is The Course?

1 day for experienced operators or 2 days for novices.
