This 1 day training course is aimed at arborists and will help them to carry out tree works with consideration of the potential effects on bats and their habitats. The course is run by 2 licensed bat ecologists, 1 of whom is a chartered arboriculturist and includes a certificate of training on completion.
Course content includes:
- UK species, range and distribution
- Legislation in respect of trees and bat roosts
- Use of trees by bats
- Survey methodologies
- How to recognise signs of bat usage in trees
- Evaluation of potential tree roosts
There will be a practical element of the course in the form of a site visit to assess a range of tree habitats. This may include actual evidence such as bat droppings. There may also be the opportunity to meet a captive bat that is used for educational purposes.
