WHAT WILL BE COVERED?
This Level 2 Award in Off-Road Driving course is aimed at drivers of 4×4 vehicles, whether that is for recreational or professional purposes.
The course is a mixture of underpinning theory and practical demonstration; you will be covering legal and safety requirements relating to the use of off-road vehicles, and the correct use of PPE for various operations. Following pre-start checks and going through the vehicle control functions, you will be able to manoeuvre the vehicle safely on rough terrain both with and without a trailer. You will be taught how to deal with slopes, deep water, ditches, soft dry sand and slippery surfaces, but when for when it all goes wrong, we’ll also be covering how to use a vehicle mounted winch to remove obstacles and perform self recovery.
This course is not intended for users of All Terrain Vehices (ATVs) as these are covered specifically on our other courses: Sit Astride All Terrain Vehicles and Sit In All Terrain Vehicles.
ARE THERE ANY PRE-REQUISITES?
Anyone booking this course and wanting to take the relevant assessment must hold a valid UK driving licence.
WHAT CAN I PROGRESS TO?
This course itself consists of three units, only one of which is compulsory; this gives you the option of progressing within this qualification by undertaking the assessment relating to one of the optional units:
- Unit 1: Pre start safety and operation of off road vehicles (Compulsory)
- Unit 2: Using Trailers in the Workplace (Optional)
- Unit 3: Use of Vehicle Winches (Optional)
If you have a requirement to operate vehicles off-road, then you might want to consider our courses for Sit-Astride All Terrain Vehicles or Sit-In All Terrain Vehicles.
